Ingredients
Instructions
-
- Prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt the chocolate by placing the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a boiling pot of water, stirring to complete the melting process.
- Add the almonds and mix to completely coat them in the chocolate.
- Individually remove the almonds to the parchment paper, laying them down separately.
- Let the almonds rest for an hour before removing from the parchment paper for storage.
Note
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Roasting the almonds before coating them in chocolate enhances the flavor, but be sure that they’re completely cool before beginning the recipe.
- Melting the chocolate in the microwave is an option; do so in 30-second intervals.
- For a thick chocolate coating, repeat the dipping process after the initial layer dries.
- Variations include:
- Sparkling with sea salt before the chocolate dries.
- Coat different types of nuts with chocolate.
- Add chili flakes to smoke up your chocolate flavor.
- Use your preferred type of chocolate - dark, semi-sweet, bittersweet, or milk chocolate.
- Avoid overheating the chocolate or using chocolate that has been refrigerated or frozen. Doing so will make the chocolate turn white.
- Pile the coated almonds in a cluster to dry to make chocolate covered almond clusters.
- Store your chocolate covered almonds in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks or in the freezer for a month.
