- Toast the almonds over low heat in a saucepan. Stir frequently to prevent burning as the almonds reach light brownness (5-10 minutes.) Place to the side.
- Mix the eggs, milk, flour, salt, baking powder, almond extract, and vanilla extract. Whisk well.
- Soak the bread slices in the liquid mix until they’re saturated.
- Remove the bread slices and place them in a pan. Refrigerate for an hour.
- Heat the canola oil and the butter in a skillet on medium heat.
- Press the soaked bread into the almonds to coat on one side.
- Brown on each side.
- To serve, sprinkle the toast with powdered sugar.
